Bringing art deco magic to the ice
Holiday On Ice
For Holiday on Ice’s newest production, Cinema of Dreams, we brought the magic of the silver screen to life by producing a dynamic Art Deco–inspired show environment. The story follows three friends who stumble upon an old cinema and begin creating their own films, traveling through iconic movie genres and exploring the rich history of cinema.
Moving stage design
To support this narrative, we engineered a highly versatile stage design built around movement, transformation, and immersive lighting. Foldable cinema chairs and modular Art Deco elements in varying scales allowed the set to shift seamlessly between scenes. A custom-built platform moved up and down to function as both staging and choreography support—transforming, for example, into steps for the dancers.
As the show tours for several months across Germany, the decors needed to be engineered for durability and efficiency as they need to be installed and taken down more than 190 times.
Lights on
The LED scenography played a central role: data led elements were fully synchronised with the upstage LED wall, creating unified visual moments that matched each cinematic world. Additional lighting features included LED hula hoops, wireless DMX–controlled trapezes, and colour-synchronised set elements that tied the entire visual palette together.
Other custom props included a 3D-printed award statue, a multifunctional dance platform, a stylised table, and a striking white bed used in one of the show’s dream sequences.
