All hands on deck for Red Star Line

Studio 100

All the world’s a stage, and we love to dress it. Producing the decor for the Red Star Line musical took blood, sweat and tears from our whole team, but we couldn’t be more proud of the result.

Rock the boat

Studio 100 approached us last year with their first ideas for the now critically acclaimed musical. Based on their concept drawings, our technical engineers got to work and designed the decor pieces. Our steel and wood craftsmen were able to show off their skills in these impressive structures.

Our decors were built on moving platforms made by Wicreations making the scenes even more spectacular. Taking centre stage is the Red Star Line boat and bow of no less than 36 meters in length. The bow was hand painted and engineered to move up and down in a dramatic scene where the boat was in the middle of a storm. It was a technical feat to design and construct this stage that had to lift not only the actors but also the bow and the supporting structure - a whopping 2000 kilos in total!

“Seeing the musical come to life and realising that you helped play a part is a fantastic feeling and worth the hard work.”

Stealing the show

In true 20s style we produced a grand staircase with 450 controllable LEDs and a unique art deco handrail design. Another showstopper was the iconic Ford Model T that we reconverted into an e-Model T, a world first! Our graphic and engineering team worked together on the 18 meters’ long walkway which splits in two backstage and which has custom billboards along the railings.
