When creativity helps communities come together

The city of Ghent

The city of Ghent and Ghent University wanted to improve the safety and connectivity in the Rabot neighbourhood. They were looking for a partner who could create and develop “smart” solutions for three specific locations where inhabitants felt either unsafe or less in touch with their community.

Concept

Fisheye’s design team came up with a fresh perspective and concept for each of these locations:

A musical bin that encourages people to throw away their litter. A fun tune plays every time you throw away an item of litter in the bin.
A passageway where people felt unsafe was turned into a smart and interactive light tunnel
A playful and bright installation creates more interaction in the middle of a park, for children and adults alike

Each design and concept was created in-house in our workshop and installed on site.
The installations’ bright, poppy colours immediately caught the attention of the local community and are being used actively.
