In our hands
City of Aalst
How do you conceptualise an exhibition about healthcare in a historic hospital building? This is the question that Stad Aalst come to us with. We came up with an inventive scenography that tells a unique story through appealing graphic design, content and interactive experiences.
Three rooms in ‘t Gasthuys in Aalst tell the story about healthcare in the city through the ages through the eyes of ten healthcare professionals in the temporary exhibition “In Onze Handen”. Photographer Lieve Blancquaert captured them in ten compelling portraits.
Each room has a dedicated colour linked to a specific life phase, yellow for birth, red for life and blue for death. By using folding screens not only as a reference to hospital settings but also as a canvas to tell the story of each provider and their profession, we were able to weave a common thread through the exhibition.
Our graphic designer created a playful yet informative layout and colour scheme, not only in the main campaign image but also in the exhibition itself. Our designers created an interactive element in each room to appeal to families: a playful ultrasound in the first room, a LED cardiogram which turns your heartbeat into a light show and a custom pedestal with an ancient ‘death mask’ that lights up when visitors share their wishes for their (lost) loved ones.
Each room also has a video compilation for which we built custom boxes to hold projectors and built-in headphones and speakers.
We won’t call ourselves surgeons just yet, but for any other (design) requests, you know you’re in good hands with us.
Can we help you create or design your next experience?
We're all ears!
