Five trends from ISE 2025

19 February 2025

The ISE 2025 fair in Barcelona showcased cutting-edge innovations in the audiovisual (AV) industry. The Fisheye crew explored the latest trends, and here’s what we boiled it down to.

1. Virtual Productions in Broadcast: AR Finds Its Place

Augmented Reality (AR) has been a dominant force in consumer markets for years. Now, it's making its way into broadcast production, offering powerful solutions for augmented content integration. However, the key challenge remains the same - technology should support the story, not the other way around. Content is king, and storytelling must remain the driver of innovation.

2. LED: From Evolution to Revolution

While LED technology has seen incremental improvements over the years, ISE 2025 marks a turning point.

  • Transparent LED displays are becoming a viable solution for retail, exhibitions, and interactive spaces.

  • Led forms: LED screens come in various angles, curves, and forms. Custom applications are growing, allowing us to better tailor our projects to customer needs and expand creative possibilities. With advancements in brightness, resolution, and forms, LED technology has taken a giant leap forward.

3. ePaper: A New Era of Display Technology

One of the most exciting new product innovations is ePaper. This technology offers larger formats, lower power consumption, and finally, decent colour reproduction. It could revolutionise digital signage, e-readers, and other display-based applications.

4. AI: the wild west of AV

AI is being used everywhere, from smart AV systems to content creation. However, the industry lacks clear standards. We need to use it in the right way and in the right place. The potential for AI in AV is huge, but without a structured approach, it remains a cool gadget. As the industry matures, standardization and best practices will be crucial to unlock the full potential of AI.

5. Innovation in the audio industry

Audio playback has been around for years, ever since the gramophone was first developed. Yet we've been blown away by the innovation out there today. For example, immersive audio is moving from cinema to live events. That helicopter flying through the cinema can now also find its place in a concert hall. 3d audio beamforming allows us to give the same visual experience to audiences with different needs and languages. Robotic line arrays provide solutions that we used to dream about. Who would have thought that robotic engineers would work in a company that produces speakers? All of these innovations are crucial as audio makes up about 50% of what we do, so we need to stay ahead of these evolutions.

The final takeaway: concept is key

At the end of the day, the success of AV innovations boils down to concept and execution. A strong concept, when backed by high-end technical solutions, is what truly drives industry breakthroughs.
