The Book & The Orb
Tomorrowland
For Tomorrowland 2026, Fisheye transformed the festival's Info Point into a monumental architectural landmark inspired by the magical world of the Great Library of Tomorrow. Combining a gigantic open book, a seven-metre Orb and fully integrated visitor services, the installation brought fantasy, functionality and complex engineering together in one spectacular structure.
Open book
At the heart of the design stands a 15-metre-high open book, finished in a refined golden patina. The scale alone made it a remarkable feat: the book weighed approximately 8 tonnes, with every page individually milled to create the illusion of a real, oversized book. A large-scale printed graphic crowns the top, adding another layer of detail to the monumental piece.
Wise engineering
Emerging from the centre is a 7-metre-diameter Orb, inspired by the Orbs of the Sages from the Great Library of Tomorrow. In the Tomorrowland story, an Orb is a living creation of the Book of Wisdom and serves as a source of power and guidance for its chosen Sage. Fisheye translated this concept into a spectacular physical installation, incorporating LED screens, extensive lighting and illuminated gems within the Orb.
Behind the fantasy lies a highly engineered structure. The installation was built from 16 high-cube containers, forming a gigantic three-level steel construction. At its centre, an eight-sided technical core provides the structural stability and support needed to carry the enormous book and Orb. The construction was engineered all the way up into the Orb, while keeping the interior accessible so that the technical systems could still be adjusted and maintained during the build.
Seamless customer experience
The Info Point was designed to work just as hard as it looked. Across its four sides, dedicated service counters included wheelchair-accessible desks, information points, phone-charging facilities and cashless customer service. A project of this scale required an enormous amount of preparation, precision and engineering.
